Ethereum staking rewards accumulating during 72 hour casino withdrawal holds worth claiming

Been tracking this across multiple withdrawals and the math is interesting. When casinos hold ETH withdrawals for 72+ hours (looking at you Wild Casino and BetWhale), that ETH could be earning 4.2% APY in liquid staking protocols.

For a 5 ETH withdrawal at current prices (~$3400), that's 72 hours of missed staking rewards worth about $3.36. Not huge money but adds up over time.

Anyone actually moving funds to staking during these holds? The gas fees to stake and unstake probably eat most of the gains, but curious if others have done the calculation.

I stick to Bitcoin specifically to avoid these headaches. ETH gas fees are unpredictable and staking lockup periods make it messy for gambling funds.

BTC sits in my hardware wallet during withdrawal delays. No staking rewards but also no additional fees or complexity. Sometimes simple is better.

The gas fees kill this strategy. Liquid staking protocols like Lido charge around 30-50 gwei for staking transactions. With current gas prices, you're looking at $15-25 just to stake, then another $15-25 to unstake.

Your $3.36 in rewards gets eaten by $30-50 in gas fees. Only makes sense for much larger amounts or longer holds.

I've been using Rocket Pool for this exact scenario. The key is only doing it when I have 10+ ETH sitting in withdrawal limbo for a week or more.

Last month Wild Casino held my 12 ETH withdrawal for 6 days. Earned about $18 in staking rewards after gas fees. Not life-changing but better than zero.

Pro tip: Check gas prices on weekends - often 40% cheaper than weekdays.

This assumes you know exactly when the withdrawal will process though. I've had Cafe Casino surprise me with same-day ETH processing when I expected 3+ days.

If you're in the middle of unstaking when they process, you miss the window and have to wait for the unstaking period to complete. Happened to me once - turned a quick withdrawal into a 5-day wait.

Good points on the gas fees. I ran some numbers and you need at least 8-10 ETH and a 5+ day hold for it to break even after gas costs.

Might be worth it for the really slow processors like BetWhale (7-10 day holds) but definitely not worth the hassle for Ignition's typical 24-48 hour processing.

Sticking to Bitcoin for smaller amounts makes more sense.
