Ethereum deposits failed twice at BetWhale showing insufficient gas but wallet has 0.2 ETH balance

Tried depositing $300 worth of ETH to BetWhale twice today and both transactions failed with "insufficient gas for intrinsic transaction cost" errors. My MetaMask wallet shows 0.2 ETH balance which should be more than enough to cover gas fees.

First attempt used the default gas settings (21 gwei, 21000 gas limit). Second attempt I manually bumped to 35 gwei but same error. The transactions aren't even showing up on Etherscan as failed - they're just not broadcasting.

Anyone else having ETH deposit issues at BetWhale recently? Their deposit address looks valid and I've used it successfully before.

Had similar issues last week but at Wild Casino. The problem wasn't the gas price but the gas limit being too low. Try setting gas limit to 50000 instead of 21000 - some casino deposit addresses are smart contracts that need extra gas to execute.

Also check if BetWhale updated their deposit contract recently. I've seen casinos switch to multi-sig wallets without announcing it, which changes the gas requirements.

This is exactly why I stick to Bitcoin. ETH gas fees are unpredictable and these smart contract deposits add another layer of complexity that can fail.

That said, when I was still using ETH last year, I found that using a higher gas limit (like Jen mentioned) plus checking the current network congestion on ETH Gas Station helped. Sometimes you need 40-50 gwei during peak hours.

Check your MetaMask settings - there's an "Advanced Gas Controls" option that needs to be enabled to manually set gas limits above the default. Without it, you're stuck with the automatic 21000 limit which isn't enough for contract interactions.

Also try switching to a different RPC endpoint in MetaMask. Sometimes the default Infura nodes get congested and don't properly estimate gas requirements.

I've been using BetWhale for ETH deposits without issues, but I always use their recommended gas settings from the deposit page. They usually suggest 30000 gas limit and current fast gas price.

One thing to check - make sure you're not trying to deposit during network congestion spikes. I use ETH Gas Tracker and only deposit when fast transactions are under 30 gwei. Saves money and reduces failed transactions.

Update: Jen was right about the gas limit! Increased it to 45000 and the deposit went through immediately. The BetWhale deposit page doesn't mention this requirement anywhere - they should really update their instructions.

Total gas cost was about $8 which is reasonable for a $300 deposit. Thanks everyone for the help, especially the RPC endpoint tip from Mike - switched from Infura to Alchemy and transactions seem faster now.
